SHANTIPEX2019–ExploringNew Paradigm  

Philately is known as king of hobbies.  But in today’s young generation, we are not able to attract them in this wonderful world of stamps.  In the era of information explosion, other mediums like television, internet and other online platforms capture their attention more easily.  With growing lack of interest, there is always a danger of losing this fine art of collection and study of stamps.

          A number of efforts are made to revive the interest in younger generation.  One of the major initiatives - being conducting Philatelic Exhibitions.

          For a very long time, we have charted out annual programmes for Philatelic Exhibitions through-out India.  But the major focus have always being on exhibiting the frames and winning prizes.  The whole agenda of the exhibitions seems to encourage the senior philatelists who have great collections to display.  Instead, our main focus should be attracting the ‘Generation Next’ to these philatelic exhibitions.

          SHANTIPEX 2019 is thus a unique exhibition which goes beyond the more display of stamps. 

          SHANTIPEX 2019 is themed on commemorating 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi, SHANTIPEX 2019 is all about telling the story of life and times of Mahatma Gandhi.  SHANTIPEX 2019 is the venue where ideals of Mahatma Gandhi will be discussed, analyzed and contemplated.  SHANTIPEX 2019 will be the foci of interaction regarding Gandhian Principles and philosophy. 

          The whole aim of SHANTIPEX 2019 is to introduce younger generation with various facets of Mahatma Gandhi ideals and enrich their understanding about his relevance in today’s world. 

No doubts, frames are the most important features of any philatelic stamps exhibitions.  But our main emphasis should be to collaborate “YOUNG MINDS” in the field of philately.

                   SHANTIPEX 2019 aims to achieve that’s by:

1.     Inviting as many schools and students to participate in SHANTIPEX 2019 as possible.

2.     Conduct a series of pre-exhibition workshops to create better understanding about the theme.

3.     Conduct a number of competitions like quiz, letter writing etc., to kindle their interest in ideals of Mahatma.

4.     Conducting live workshop at the venue of SHANTIPEX 2019.

5.     Organizing a number of fun activities for children at SHANTIPEX 2019.

Coimbatore District Level Philatelic Exhibition

to commemorate 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi

5^th - 7^th September 2019

1. INTRODUCTION:

Dear Friends,

Coimbatore Postal Division is organizing a District Level Philatelic Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi from 5^th Sep 2019 to 7^th Sep 2019. It is a unique Exhibition to commemorate 150 years of Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi.

 The exhibition is named as SHANTIPEX - 2019 to highlight Mahatma Gandhi’s role as a messenger of World Peace. Through this Philatelic Exhibition we hope to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of universal brotherhood and non-violence.

 This prospectus is released for the benefit of all the Philatelist who wants to contribute in this Exhibition, it will act as valuable guide and reference manual.
